The Spirit of Python

  1. by Jentezen Franklin.
  2. What did I learn from the book? The author compares the enemy to a python to demonstrate the enemy’s attack and desire to influence our lives. The devil wants to coil around our lives and choke out every bit of Jesus we have while enjoying every minute of it. Many Christians are being overcome instead of overcoming his grip. There are two times in life when you are vulnerable to temptation: when you have nothing and when you have everything. The python strategy of satan is to squeeze prayer and Bible reading out of our daily agenda. When the enemy attacks, we must stay in the Word, continue in prayer and stand firm against the enemy. We must continuously surround ourselves with friends who have fought this fight and are still standing. As believers, we have been given authority over demons. The only way demons can get a stronghold on us is when we deliberately and persistently walk in sin. These strongholds act as chains binding us to sin. I want to ask you a question. Do you have strongholds in your life that are holding you down? It could be worry, fear, discouragement, depression, addiction, etc. They’re all bad, but the good thing about it is we have a chain breaker that can transform these chains into hope and victory. I’m living proof.
  3. How will I use this book in the future? I am going to cutoff every access point that gives the python (devil) a chance to wrap himself around my life. I have faithfully set aside time daily to breathe in the Word of God and breathe out with prayer and praise to God. I believe this is the only way for me to live a strong, powerful Christian life.
