The Bait of Satan

by John Bevere

Many are unable to function properly in their calling because of the wounds and hurts that offenses have caused in their lives. These offenses handicap us from our full potential. The possibilities for offense are as endless as the list of relationships you may have, no matter how complex or simple. The truth is only those you care about can hurt you. The greater the expectations, the greater the fall. Offended people can be divided into two categories: (1) those who have been treated unjustly, and (2) those who believe they have been treated unjustly. Pride causes us to view ourselves as a victim. Because you believe you are innocent, you hold back forgiveness. Though your true heart condition is hidden from you, it is not hidden from God. Just because you were mistreated, you do not have permission to hold on to an offense. Two wrongs do not make a right!

I know trials in this life will expose what is in my heart. Tests either make you bitter toward God, your friends, or your family. If I pass the test, my Christian roots will grow deeper, stabilizing me and my future. If I fail I become offended, which can lead to a life of bitterness.
