Don’t Take Things For Granted
I was studying the Bible looking for some references about prison. I found in Matthew 11:2, it states, “And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him, “Are you the Coming One, or do we look for another?” I am so glad I don’t have to ask that question today. I know He is the “Coming One.” He lives in me.
It’s not home, but I am adjusting okay. Coleman makes Motel 6 look like the Ritz Carlton. I figured a lot of you may have questions about things like the food. It is about 100 times worse than any school lunch you have ever eaten unless you like soy burger meat and black beans. I have been blessed to find a couple of kind-hearted folks here, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t many undesirables living among me. I finally got access to the commissary where I was able to purchase a few things. Before I came in, I was addicted to Coke Zero. I was drinking almost 2 – 2 liters a day. However, I have had only three cans since I have been here. You definitely have to be thrifty with your money being you are only able to spend a very small amount per week. I had to buy toiletries and some shorts that took most of my first commissary. My ward robe consists of 4 shirts, pants, underwear, and socks. I was also issued some steel toed work boots. I was given a pair of tennis shoes that were worn out about 3 years ago from another inmate. They hurt my feet, but they are better than the boots. I don’t understand why some things are done a certain way in here, but I guess the BOP has a reason. This place strips you of about everything. You want paper, you buy it. If you want underwear that fit you, you buy it. Also, you don’t leave the unit unless they tell you you can. This makes me realize the many things I have taken for granted. I guess not having them is part of my punishment. I would like to leave you with this thought: Don’t take your life for granted. Remember to hug your wife as much as possible, and do the little things that show how much you care. These may seem simple to you, but they are things I would give almost anything to do right now. I love you.
Michael

My boyfriend is in Coleman USP1. He’s been there for 2 and 1/2 years now and I haven’t been able to visit him yet because they keep them locked down every weekend and I am 800 mi away. They’re locked down now and have been for almost a month. Prayers for you!
Love you brother. I’m glad you have found some people to study the Bible and fellowship with. Glad you are getting into a routine. Wish you were home where you belong. We are continuing to pray for you. Maybe you will get some better food from the commissary. We miss and love you buddy.
