This book goes through 17 different disciplines a godly man should possess. Disciplines such as marriage, fatherhood, friendships, and worship. Each has its own distinct virtues a man should seek to be more like Jesus. It is a fact that we never get anywhere in life without discipline especially in spiritual matters. None of us is inherently righteous, none of us naturally seek God. As we develop, the flesh takes over much of our life. But, because of grace, our spiritual discipline becomes everything. For many men, a challenge is an opportunity to duck, to pull up the covers and stay in bed. For the disciplined spiritual man it is an opportunity for God to use you while witnessing to others. The man who wisely disciplines himself for godliness understands, the necessity of prioritizing, prayer, and accountability. But the greatest wisdom comes from the spiritual man’s understanding of grace. Salvation itself is by grace alone. By grace, we are saved through faith. It is a gift from God, not a result of man’s works. It is God’s grace that energizes us to live out the disciplines of a godly man. How are you going to respond when you stumble spiritually?
