- The book was written by Pastor Greg Laurie. He was the preacher in the movie Jesus Revolution.
- What did I learn from the book? After we die what is there? Eternity. Far often we think of this life as being everything. unless we get bad news from the doctor or a loved one dies, we seldom give thought to the next life. What we do here matters, and in fact it sets our course for our eternity –for good or bad/ In effect, we must go to Heaven to find out why we are here on earth. We exist to bring God glory and pleasure. We are not here to bring glory and pleasure to ourselves. I know this can be hard to fathom. Regardless if we go to Heaven or the Lake of Fire in the afterlife, we are going to be there forever. So what happens to Christians when they die? They go straight to Heaven. No stopovers. Isn’t that wonderful? How about nonbelievers? They will have a one-way ticket to Hades. So wouldn’t it be to our advantage that we live on earth today in a way to go to Heaven? In the afterlife, we are the same people, with real memories of what went on in our lives on earth. In fact, we will know more in Heaven than we know on earth, not less. If you did not remember anything in the afterlife, then why would God open the books to judge you according to your works?
If we turn from our sin and put our faith in Jesus, we can know with confidence that we will go to Heaven when we die. Are you ready? Are you sure? Faith is a virtue on earth, not in Heaven. Why? Because we will not need it there! Faith is the bridge between Heaven and earth. Once we cross it, we will never need it again. I encourage you to hold on to your faith because clarity is coming. Will you choose to live a life that send you to Heaven? Or, will you live life your way and have a date with the Lake?
- How will I use this book in the future? I will use what I learned from this book to exercise my faith in spite of my struggles. The Lord has me here on earth for a reason. I am put here to glorify him and be a disciple to others. What is your reason?
