The Way to God

1. Why did I read the book? It was a book I found in the library. It was written by Dwight Moody who was born in 1837. He was a popular evangelist in the 19th century. It is estimated in his lifetime, without TV or radio, Moody traveled more than one million miles and preached to more than one million people.
2. What did I learn from this book? When we wish to know the love of God, we should go to Calvary. The cross speaks of the love of God. Greater love has never been taught than which the cross teaches. It is hard to fathom giving up your son. But God loves us as He loves His own son seems to good to be true, yet that is what Christ teaches. God loves the sinner, but hates the sin. Do not think that because you are a sinner, God does not love you or care for you. He does! He wants to save you and bless you. I have found that the world can treat me unkindly, but Christ never has or will. I am living proof you will never have a better friend in this world.

It is impossible to make anyone better without Christ, but that is what people are trying to do. They try to patch up the “Old Adam” nature. There must be a new creation. You can’t! Regeneration is a new creation, and if is a new creation, it must be the work of God. We can’t work our way in! It is to the one who does not work, but believes (Romans 4:5). We work because we are saved; we do not work to be saved. We work from the cross but not towards it. When Christ cried out on Calvary, “It is finished!” He meant what He said. All that people have to do now is just accept the work of Jesus. So, if you perish, it will not be because Adam fell, but because you rejected the remedy offered to save you. You will choose darkness rather than light (John 3:19). There is no hope for you if you neglect the remedy. Trust me, you do not get the power to love and serve God until you believe. We get life by believing. You have no one to blame but yourself if you do not repent and believe the gospel. I have been reading the Bible a lot lately and I have yet see where it tells a person to “wait.” Rather God sees true repentance in the heart, He meets the soul. I will tell you the past sins of Christians are all forgiven as soon as they are confessed, and the good thing they are never mentioned again. What a great relief!

3. How will I apply this book in the future? As a Christian but one who at times, slave over troubling sin. To gain victory over the sins, I intend to learn and know Christ more intimately. Because I know He brings deliverance for the past, present, and future.
