Heroes of History –Billy Graham

  1. Why did I read the book? It was a book I found in the chapel library. I always wanted to know more about Billy Graham so I decided to read it. It was a great book.
  2. What did I learn from the book? I didn’t realize Billy was the son of a dairy farmer in North Carolina. He had to work very hard growing up on the farm. At first he fought the urge to become a pastor until the Holy Spirit got a hold of him. He would accept speaking engagements everywhere and put on crusades when at times it seemed impossible. He was also an advisor to several presidents including Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, and Carter. He preached the gospel to the masses only taking a mediocre salary for his work. I think this showed his true character unlike the Kenneth Copeland’s of today. He worked until the end bringing people to the Lord.
  3. How will I use this book upon my release? I read about events he organized and the tireless hours he worked for the Lord and I look at my life. What do I do for the Lord? Not enough! Do I evangelize enough for him? No. I need to make sure everyone I come in contact with knows the Lord, and if not, to try and share the gospel with them.

  1. He did not want the extravagant lifestyles so many “false evangelists” want. He lived a simple life taking only the money he needed to live a simple lifestyle.
