Limping With God

by Chad Bird

This book takes you through the trials and tribulations of Jacob. Jacob seems to be anything but a model disciple. He is a trickster, liar, and a selfish man who fathered children with four different women. But Jacob is also Israel, the namesake of the Old Testament community of God, chosen and blessed. This sinner/saint who limps with the Lord is the mirror image of all of us who follow Jesus. Being a disciple of Christ means we will have a life where we struggle, plagued with failures, and at times be ungodly. Life is but an instance it is fragile. But our God is not. He is powerful. He is strong. He is just. He knows mercy. The things we do each day are noticed and dictate our commitment to God. I encourage you to limp or crawl if you have too toward God’s plan for your life. I know waiting on God to bring you through the desert sometimes is hard. That is because He is stripping away all those things which we selfishly rely on. As I go through this season in my life, I have learned a lot of things not only about myself but about God. I know without a doubt God is going to deliver me. He will deliver you as well all you have to do is ask!
