What Happens Next

by Max Lucado

If you want a book that simplifies the end of times, this is the best book I have read. The end of times is a difficult period of time to fully grasp. You have Jesus being born, the church age, paradise, the rapture, rewards, wedding, tribulation, return of Christ, millennium, great whit throne and external life or death. Some of us will be part of different section and then there will be those who will experience hell. To sin is to turn to anyone or anything for what only God can provide. When we ask anything on earth to do Heaven’s job, we sin. And sin complicates life! I know this all too well. I used to turn to the bottle for pain management and it only caused more pain. Have you ever calculated the time we spend undoing the damage of yesterday’s sin? Fighting bad habits. Regretting poor choices. Life is complicated today because we sinned yesterday. What if we never sinned? We wouldn’t beat ourselves up for stumbling yesterday, because in a sinless society we didn’t sin yesterday and won’t stumble tomorrow. Or ever. Such a place is called Heaven. “No longer will there be any curse” (Rev. 22:3). No more struggle with earth. No more shame before God. No more tension between people. No more death. The removal of the curse will return us to God’s intended state. What do we do in the meantime? We go about life. Love our family. Work. Share the gospel by urging others to get ready and stay ready for Christ’s return. “Daily expect the Day of the God, eager for its arrival,” (2 Peter 3:11-12 MSG). We don’t know when He will come, but we know He will. I hope He finds you watching for his arrival.
