This book gives great insight on how Jesus lead His disciples which serves as a great model for us for our family or business. There are two types of leadership: life role and organizational leadership. Life role leaders function in enduring relationships as parents, spouses, friends, and citizens; duty and obligations cannot be easily relinquished or discarded. Organizational leaders, on the other hand, operate for a season in an environment of temporary relationships and fairly constant change. The reality of the situation, all of us are leaders. So, as you lead, who is your role model?
For followers of Jesus, servant leadership is not an option; servant leadership is a mandate. Our servant leadership is to be a living statement of who we are in Jesus, an identity evident how we treat one another and how we demonstrate the love of Jesus to the whole world. In other words, leading like Jesus is a transformational journey. It begins with the willingness to do whatever Jesus commands, with a heart surrendered to doing His will. You can never lead like Jesus until you accept the fact that only Jesus can lead you. I have been responsible for many people in my lifetime. I cannot say I have always made the right decisions because at times I allowed power, money, and pride to lead me and not Jesus. If God blesses me with the opportunity again. I will be committed to both developing others and achieving results in a way that honors God. I know now my purpose in life is to glorify God if I am leading or following.
