Pastor David Jeremiah is the author. He utilizes Paul’s struggles and John Newton’s (author of Amazing Grace) struggles in life to explain grace.
What does grace mean? It is the unmerited favor or kindness shown to us who is utterly underserving by God. Others may consider grace as a five letter word spelled Jesus. Regardless, this gift is unsought and unlimited in nature to us. We receive grace not by anything we did. It was all done by Jesus on the cross.
The Old Testament speaks of mercy while the New Testament speaks of grace. Mercy is God withholding the punishment we rightfully deserve. Grace is God not only withholding that punishment but offer us the most precious gift known. Mercy hears the cry of the thief on the cross. Grace promises paradise that same day. Mercy closes the door to hell. Grace opens the door to heaven. Christ removes not only the penalty for our sin; He cleanses us completely from its slightest taint. Allow us to stand before God as if we lived a life of purity and perfection. The good things we do not fall in and out of grace. We stand in it because nothing can separate us from God’s love. There is nothing the world can throw at us that God will not use for His glory. God many times will not take away the trial, but he will give you the power to endure it. I know i have went through some tough trials, but as I reflect, He has made me stronger and wiser each time. As I hold the hand of Jesus, I can see a glimpse of the glorious nature of deliverance that is to come.
How will I use this book in the future? Nothing will deny me from being the conqueror that Jesus has made me to be through His love. For that reason, I can be strong, courageous, and can stand against anything. I know I will win in the end because I am covered by the blood.
