The Breaking of the Outer Man and the Release of the Spirit, Let Us Pray, and God’s Work
What did I learn from the book? In order for a man to do work for God, his inner man must be released. The problem most people have is that the inner man cannot break through the outer man. If our inner man is imprisoned, our spirit is shrouded and not easily released. Many people think that their outer man is more precious than their inner man. The Holy Spirit has only one goal in all His disciplining work, to break and dismantle the outer man. The cross destroys everything of the outer man. So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16. It destroys our opinions, methods, wisdom, and self-love. Once the outer man is broken, the inner man is released and the spirit is able to be renewed each day.
Why pray? What is the use of praying? Is not God omniscient, as well as omnipotent? Why must He wait till we pray before He commences to work? Prayer is the union of the believer’s thought with the will of God. The prayer which a believer utters on earth is but the voicing of the Lord’s will in heaven. Prayer does not alter that which God has determined. It merely achieves what He has already foreordained. Essentially, God in heaven will only bind and loosen what His children on earth have bound and loosen. The true meaning of prayer is for the one who prays to pray for the fulfillment of the will of the One to whom he prays. We also have a helper, the Holy Spirit, who intercedes on our behalf. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Romans 8:27
How will I use this book in the future? I must realize that everything that comes my way is meaningful and under God’s sovereign arrangement. Nothing accidental happens to a Christian. Nothing is outside God’s ordering. I have to humble myself under God’s arrangements. I must open my eyes and see God is arranging everything around me.
Love you Mike
Amen! We may not understand down here why things happen but I believe everything happens by divine appointment! Every trial and every tribulation that we go through is not a surprise to the Master! He knew before it happened. It is up to us how we walk it out! I am proud of the way you are walking out your journey! I love you!!
